Hispanic obesity and health
Hispanic obesity is a national problem with wide consequences and cost to America's health and productivity. Many states bear the financial burden of care for overweight and obese hispanics. We need to reduce obesity rates for the nation's largest and fastest growing ethnic minority, by preventing obesity. For Hispanic communities, obesity more than an issue it has become a crisis. Many states and communities reporting Hispanics obesity rates to be worryingly high and hispanic children with obesity earlier in their lives, growing into unhealthy less productive adults.
Approximately 73% of the mexican american woman are overweight. Rates of children with obesity problems are increasing fast as well. Hispanic children are 1.4 times more likely to be overweight as Non- Hispanic White Children. More than 80 percent of Hispanics with type 2 diabetes are overweight. Hispanic Americans are 1.2 times as likely to be obese than Non-Hispanics making this minority the minority group with the second-highest obesity prevalence in adults.
The first step to prevent this numbers from rising into a worst situation, is to get to know the problem and attack it in a proactive, fast way. Lots of Hispanics Americans are not aware of what causes obesity, practicing bad eating and exercising habits on daily basis, developing this kind of weight problems eventually. Other factors like stress-eating and genetics can be influential as well. People who are obese are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure, hypertension, high levels of blood fats, and high cholesterol, diabetes, certain types of cancer. All of them are risk factors for stoke and heart disease which is the leading cause of death for Hispanics. In addition to chronic diseases obese Hispanics are more likely to have mood instability and low self-esteem.

1.Choose a variety of food, eat food from all foods groups.
2.Drink plenty of water ( The human body needs around 8 glasses of water a day)
3.If you feel like snacking eat a healthy snack
4.Stay away from sodas, they have more sugar than you want
5.Eat intelligently, watch what you eat
6.Stay away from fried stuff
7.Eat fresh fruit instead of process fruit
8.Eat more white meat and less red meat
9.Stop eating when your body has had enough
10.Exercise
